what do i need to do to start my own business?

ok i am currently in college and im not sure of my major. it is my dream to own my own gunshop, and i just thought of maybe i could get a degree in something like business management or something. then i would have to go through permits and all that crap, but does anyone have any expierience starting their own business they could share? like hardships, any tips or anything?
